دليل مقاسات ملابس الأطفال من 6 شهور إلى 16 سنة

A child's size is set by their height in centimetres, not by age alone. Children of the same age can differ by 10 cm or more, so measure your child with a tape and pick the size closest to their height in the table below. If your child is between two sizes, take the larger one for cotton sets and pyjamas, and the nearer one for fitted items like joggers. This is an approximate guide to the kids' clothing we carry from 6 months to 16 years.

How to measure your child's height correctly

  • Measure standing up straight with their back against the wall, without shoes or thick socks.
  • Measure from the top of the head to the heel (not to the tip of the toes).
  • Measure in the middle of the day, not first thing in the morning — height changes by a centimetre or two over the day.
  • Re-measure every 3 months for babies and every 6 months for older children, and save the number with the date on your phone.

Why baby sizes (6 months – 3 years) work differently

For babies, age is a stronger signal than height, because a baby grows fast in the first two years — which is why every size is labelled in months. The practical rule: a baby moves up a size every 2 to 3 months. That is why we suggest going one size above the measured height for babies, especially in pyjamas and cotton sets, because cotton can shrink a little in the first wash. Buying a gift and unsure of the size? Choose 12 – 18 months for a one-year-old and 18 – 24 months for an 18-month-old.

Shoe sizes: measure the foot before ordering

A shoe size is measured in centimetres from the heel to the longest toe, then you add half a centimetre of growing room — and one centimetre for thick winter socks. Measure at the end of the day when the foot has expanded slightly, measure both feet, and buy for the larger one.

Between two sizes: which one?

  • Trousers and jeans: the smaller size if the gap is small, because the fabric relaxes a little with wear.
  • Pyjamas and cotton sets: the larger size, for comfort and growing room.
  • Shoes: the larger size with half a centimetre spare — never choose a tight shoe "to grow into".
  • Heavy winter clothing: the larger size, because your child wears layers underneath.

Frequently asked questions

What size fits a two-year-old?

A two-year-old is usually 92 to 100 cm tall, which fits the 2 – 3 years size. The safer method is to measure their height in centimetres and choose the closest size, because two children of the same age can differ by 10 cm.

Should I size up if my child is between sizes?

For pyjamas, cotton sets and winter clothing, choose the larger size. For trousers and jeans, choose the smaller one when the gap is small. For shoes, always take the larger size with half a centimetre of room.

How do I measure my child's shoe size?

Measure from the heel to the longest toe in centimetres at the end of the day, then add half a centimetre of growing room. Measure both feet and go with the larger one, and check the shoe size chart on this page.

Are baby sizes based on age or height?

For babies (6 months to 3 years) age is the stronger signal, because a baby moves up a size every 2 to 3 months. For children over 4, height in centimetres is the most accurate reference.
